Welcome to The Wander!
After years of being tucked away in our studio, we’re proud to open the doors to our beautiful new home in the heart of Richmond's Fan district, where we’ll be showcasing the natural history and outdoors inspired illustrations of The Wild Wander, as well as a curated selection of other outdoors-inspired gifts and goods.
As a bit of an introduction to our new neighbors, The Wild Wander is a Virginia-based illustration studio featuring the nature-inspired illustrations of Clara Cline. The Wild Wander has been an exploration of how the outdoors shapes us, and the sense of freedom and nostalgia it brings. The shop gives us the opportunity to bring everything that has inspired the Wander to life in a physical space, allowing people to walk through a collection of illustration projects old and new, rifle through vintage books, and give visitors a moment of quiet happiness.
One of the great joys of opening a shop is being able to bring in goods from makers we've met along the way. From small-batch chocolate from Cape Cod, to National Park candles from Seattle, to good old SunPrints from U Cal Berkeley, we've curated a selection of goods that represent a road trip around the United States. Cline's own experience as an artist was highly influenced by children's book illustrations, so special care has been taken in creating a children's book area that stokes curiosity and wonder in the natural world.
